In this section are two sets of resources. The first is a list of training courses to learn more about implementing research into practice, and the second is a list of possible ways to gain practical experience.

Implementing research into clinical practice is fundamental to improving patient outcomes; you could do this through clinical guidelines, audit, and participating in real-world data collection.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance

NICE supports using the evidence gained from research to improve standards of care and services. This is done in part by the publication of practical guidance documents.

The National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) guidance

The NIHR offers a range of information, courses and support to researchers and those wishing to go into research.

Dermatology Training: The Essentials

This BAD publication covers key themes outlined in the 2021 Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board (JRCPTB) curriculum and includes the principals of running a research project.

Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) courses

CPPE offers a range of information, face-to-face events and online and distance learning opportunities for the NHS pharmacy workforce.

Resources for Practical Experience in Implementing Research into Practice

Opportunities through the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD)

Become involved in a BAD clinical guideline working group or BAD audit.

The UK Dermatology Clinical Trials Network (UK DCTN)

The UK DCTN offer training and a number of research Fellowships for Doctors, Nurses and Pharmacists each year.

Funding opportunities

The BAD website has information about a variety of research funding opportunities.

Royal College of Physicians (RCP) Resources

The RCP produces a number of documents to support clinicians implement their research.
