In this section are two sets of resources. The first is a list of training courses to help develop an understanding of the principles of genomics in dermatology, and the second is a list of possible ways to gain practical experience.

In the context of health research, genomics examines the molecular mechanisms and their interactions with each other, with the person’s environment, and with health interventions.

Wellcome offers a range of courses, including an introductory ‘Genomics for Dermatology’ course run every two years.

Wellcome offers hands-on training in the latest biomedical techniques for research scientists, clinicians and healthcare professionals.

The BAD Skin Genetics Group (SGG)

SGG is a UK-wide network linking clinical dermatologists with an interest in genetic skin diseases and may have opportunities with which to become involved.

The BAD website has information about a variety of research funding opportunities. 

The British Society for Investigative Dermatology Travel Bursaries and Awards

BSID members receive reduced registration rates for the annual meeting. Members are also eligible to apply for a number of prizes/travel awards.

BSID undergraduate research experience 2025

The British Society for Investigative Dermatology undergraduate research experience. 2025 courses will be announced in due course.
