The British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) is delighted that the BAD living guideline for managing people with alopecia areata has been published by the British Journal of Dermatology (BJD).

The alopecia areata living guideline, led by Dr Matthew Harries, is the second living guideline produced by the BAD.  

The guideline has been developed using the BAD’s recommended methodology [i.e. Appraisals of Guidelines Research and Evaluation (AGREE II) instrument  and the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE)]. 

The overall objective of the current iteration of the living guideline is to provide up-to-date, evidence-based recommendations for the management of alopecia areata in adults, children and young people.

 The guideline development group devised:
