Introduction
The 88th Annual Meeting of the BAD will be coming to the city of Liverpool in July 2008. Celebrating Capital of Culture also in 2008 Liverpool is a diverse and exciting city with a huge range of attractions, hotels and restaurants in close proximity to the conference centre. Situated in the heart of the city on the historic, world-heritage waterfront, the Liverpool Arena and Convention Centre is a state-of-the-art conference venue offering all the space, facilities and professional service to satisfy the needs of our delegates and exhibitors making it the ideal location to stage a successful Annual Meeting.

Social Programme
This year’s meeting will offer a superb social programme utilizing some of Liverpool’s most unique and impressive venues.
President's Reception - Tuesday 1st July
The President's Reception will be held at the Merseyside Maritime Museum, containing four floors of fascinating galleries exploring the city’s maritime history. Based in the Albert Dock in a former bonded warehouse, displays look at Liverpool’s important role during the Second World War, life at sea with the merchant navy and the brand new Titanic, Lusitania and the Forgotten Empress gallery. Drinks and canapés will be served from 18:45 onwards.
Sporting Competitions - Wednesday 2nd July
All sporting events will be held at venues in and around the city on Wednesday afternoon. The departure point for all events will be from outside the ACC.
Annual Dinner - Thursday 3rd July
The Annual Dinner and Dance will be held in St Georges Hall in the centre of the city. St Georges Hall is one of the finest neo-classical buildings in the world and will provide a magnificent venue for the event.

Abstracts of papers and posters should be submitted for consideration by the Scientific Committee by the deadline Monday 7th January 2008. Authors will be notified of the results by the end of February 2008. Abstracts must be submitted online via the link below:

Accommodation
The Accommodation Booking Service at The Mersey Partnership will be dealing with all delegate and exhibitor hotel bookings. A range of hotels located within the city of Liverpool have been reserved and a hotel booking form will be sent with the registration form later this year. Delegates are advised to book their accommodation early in order to secure your first choice.
The BAD is not responsible for booking hotel accommodation.

EXHIBITION
A large exhibition will run alongside the scientific meeting, open to delegates from Tuesday to Thursday. If you would like further information about exhibiting opportunities, please contact the conference office.

ACCOMPANYING PERSONS
The accompanying persons’ programme will consist of a half day tour of Liverpool on Tuesday afternoon and a full day tour on Wednesday. Further details will be available on the registration form. Please note that accompanying persons and children may not visit the exhibition. We also regret that none of the social events are suitable for children or babies.

BY ROAD
From the M6 the city is easily reached via the M58, M56 and M62 motorways. Liverpool city centre is approximately 45 minutes' drive from Chester, Manchester and North Wales. It is just over 1 hour from Blackpool, the Lake District, the Yorkshire Moors and the Peak District National Parks, and just over 4 hours from London. The ACC has a 1600 space multi-storey car park on site, and there are numerous other parking facilities in and around the city centre.
BY AIR
Liverpool John Lennon Airport is just 8 miles from the city centre, and a 20 minute taxi ride to the ACC, with regular flights to Ireland and Europe. There is also a direct rail link into Liverpool city centre from Manchester Airport which offers shuttle flights from Britain’s other major airports including London Gatwick and Heathrow.
BY RAIL
Liverpool is easily accessible by train from many other major towns and cities across the country, and can be reached in approximately 2.5 hours from London. Liverpool Lime Street station is a 15 minute walk or a short taxi ride from the conference centre.
