Service Standards
The BAD produces and develops NICE-accredited Service Guidance and Standards that focus on the organisation and delivery of dermatology healthcare services in the UK. NICE has accredited the process used by the British Association of Dermatologists to produce Service Guidance and Standards.
Service Standards underpin clinical guidelines, which deal mainly with the prescribing and medical management of patients with skin diseases. Service Standards are audit standards which encompass both the overarching clinical pathway for patients, and the service aspects required in the delivery of dermatology care. They also define the governance and organisational infrastructures which are required in the NHS, with specific reference to those which apply to secondary care dermatology clinical interventions.
